Read full description of the books Corr Syl the Warrior:Corr Syl the Warrior by Garry Rogers is a young-adult science-fiction novel that is the first of a series of stories about a young rabbit descendent who has decided to become a warrior. As the story begins, Corr Syl is well past the end of his twelve years training and he is dying for a vacation.
But he hasn’t left because he is falling in love with another young warrior, Rhya Bright, who hasn’t finished her training. The longer he delays, however, the more jobs he gets from his local district council. One of the council's tasks leads Corr into the heart of a conflict that could escalate into a global war. That’s bad, but Corr doesn’t mind so much because the Council asks Rhya to help him resolve the conflict. However, Corr doesn’t agree when the Council asks him to find and execute a murderer. That’s because the murderer is Allon Trofeld, Corr’s first childhood friend.
This sci-fi story for teens takes place on an Earth where intelligence evolved long before humans appeared. It tells how the bumbling human species endangers the Earth and all its creatures, and how the rabbit warrior, Corr Syl, addresses the problem.
What is Corr’s Earth like? Well, when Corr stands looking across Wycliff Valley and is able to sense the energies of the creatures of the soil, land, and air, you know you are not on our Earth any longer. The story’s combination of super intelligent characters with reverence for humor, freedom to choose what they do in life, and an instinct to do the right thing, is the kind of science-fiction that appeals to adults as well as young-adult and middle-grade readers.
