Read full description of the books A Girl, A Guy and A Ghost:I wanted to like this book, I really did ... but Giselle and Ry, as lead characters, did not appeal to me. The secondary characters were what saved this book for me.
I got tired of Giselle being described as "overweight" after the first time it happened in the story. However, it seemed that her weight (the heroine being a size 10, according the author, is apparently considered 'overweight') is a running theme throughout every scrape/argument/insult slinging fest the 'heroine' encounters ... and I really did tire of the overweight thoughts being the main insult thrown in Giselle's direction not just once and not just twice and not even just three times ... you get the drift. I deducted a star merely for that thought alone. I would gone along with a heroine that was actually considered overweight but not tabloid/celebrity thought of 'overweight'.
The real wit and humor comes into play with the secondary characters (Willy, the artist, the vampire & his newest girlfriend, Ry's mother, and a local psychic) and the organization VICTIM. However, even then the author lapsed into rehashing - such as the artist always asking if he could have sex with Giselle. Not once ... not twice ... not three times ... you get the drift.
The story line between Giselle and Ry was so predictable (girl meets boy, girl drools over boy, girl flubs it up with boy, girl talks boy into helping her, girl lands in bed with boy, boy falls for girl) that I skimmed through those parts until one of the background characters appeared. Part of the reason is that Giselle just was not appealing or interesting of a character to me. I could care less, after a while, if she found a ghost - let alone got together with Ry.
